Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine

Saturday, April 14th, I gathered up my two grandkids in Tucson, hi-jacked my daughter's car and drove to Roper Lake.  That is up close to Safford, AZ.  My daughter was already there with some friends to celebrate her birthday.  She had rented a cabin and it came in handy considering the weather on Friday and Saturday.  Most of our 2 and 1/2 hour drive up was in the rain and about 15 miles south of Safford it started snowing.  We could see light snow accumulated on the side of the roadway.  But all was not in vain as it started clearing up a little after I and the grandchildren arrived.  My other grandson, Enrique and his betrothed (I think that is the right word) arrived a little after I did and a little later Martina and  Claudia (friends of the family) arrived bringing with them birthday cake more gifts and their own camping tent. We all pitched in and helped them set up the tent.  My daugthter's friend John had pre-prepared some delicious Chile which we heated on the outdoor grill and enjoyed early on.  Later, steaks were grilled and partook of.  I believe that a good time was had by all.  I left with Stefan and Emmett (the two smaller grandchildren) around 6 p.m. to return to Tucson.  Enrique (he is 22 years old now), Catherine, Martina and Claudia stayed the night, Enrique and Cat inside the cabin with my daughter.  The cabin was fairly small but had facilities to sleep at least 6 people!  The return trip was uneventful and we made it in one shot in a little less that two hours.  Have a blessed day and I will see you again soon,  Grandpa Virgil (the can man)

Can't Even Get An "E" For Effort!!

Four of my family this morning (04112012).  I sort of promised my daughter that I would Vacuum the whole house today.  So here I am at almost 1 pm with very little accomplished in that respect.  The grandchildren will be here by 2:15 and I know I won't get anything done afterward!  I've got a partial excuse that I could not find the Vacuum Cleaner Tools that are in a plastic shoe box somewhere.  I have looked all over!
I got a good picture of Huera (pronounced "who-way-rah") and Gilbert (the first two pics). I took these pictures while I was outside working on the recycle stuff that goes in the bin for the city to pick up.  Tomorrow is the weekly pickup for recycle materials.
Have a fantastic day.....Virgil (gino) The Can Man

Still Easter Vacation

04/09/2012...Another day with my two grandchildren in Tucson.  I was hoping to go to the Tucson International Speedway day before yesterday but I did not want to go alone and my daughter did not feel well.  So maybe next week or the week after.  The races should be going on all summer.  The last races that I attended were at the same racetrack many, many years ago when it was called the Corona Speedway.  Carl Trimmer and Wild Bill Cheeseborg (spelling?) are a couple of names that come to mind that were big names in the jalopy races at that time.  Now they have a new track and a new name and race entirely different types of racecars.  I understand  that they have accesable wi fi through out the grandstand area and a radio station that broadcase within the immediate area.  The last race on this past Saturday evening cost $15 for adults, $13 for seniors or military and children 10 and under were free. And then for $7 more you could upgrade to their deluxe accommidations (whatever that might be!)

Have a good day!!! The Can Man

One Day At A Time

(Sorry, This should have been posted around the 3rd week of March) I am anxiously awaiting the 1st of the month (payday) so that I can do some things that I have been putting off.  I need to buy some nails and/or screws, nuts & bolts to "tighten up" a few of my four dog houses in the back yard.  The dogs running in and out and sometimes wrestling inside the doghouses kind of takes its toll!!.  I am going to try to put a recent movie of the five dogs in an after breakfast romp. ((I was not able to upload the short movie.)) Have a good day. Love and Prayers for all, grandpa virgil (gino)(the can man)

Coming or Going?

Yes, sometimes I wonder---whether I'm coming or going!  I was invited to go with my three Tucson grandchildren and their Mother to the Tucson Zoo today.  I did not go.  I used the excuse that I do not get around good and I would slow them down.  (Who is going to go fast in a zoo?)  Oh well.....I did make it to my ex-wife's home where the family got together after the "zoo" thing for an Easter dinner (lamb roast).
I believe that everyone had a great time.  I don't drink much anymore but today I had a couple of beers and about a half glass of red wine and it was enjoyable.  I was still able to do the 30 minute drive back to my daughters home where I now live without getting picked up. (Police--I'm talking about, not women!)

The two younger grandchildren are out of school for one more day (tomorrow) and so I will again attempt to keep order in the house until their Dad gets in a little after 4 p.m.

I am still trying to figure out a way to get a post up here a little more often...I will get there one of these days!!!  Meanwhile....Cheers from the Can Man.
