Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine and more sunshine

Saturday, April 14th, I gathered up my two grandkids in Tucson, hi-jacked my daughter's car and drove to Roper Lake.  That is up close to Safford, AZ.  My daughter was already there with some friends to celebrate her birthday.  She had rented a cabin and it came in handy considering the weather on Friday and Saturday.  Most of our 2 and 1/2 hour drive up was in the rain and about 15 miles south of Safford it started snowing.  We could see light snow accumulated on the side of the roadway.  But all was not in vain as it started clearing up a little after I and the grandchildren arrived.  My other grandson, Enrique and his betrothed (I think that is the right word) arrived a little after I did and a little later Martina and  Claudia (friends of the family) arrived bringing with them birthday cake more gifts and their own camping tent. We all pitched in and helped them set up the tent.  My daugthter's friend John had pre-prepared some delicious Chile which we heated on the outdoor grill and enjoyed early on.  Later, steaks were grilled and partook of.  I believe that a good time was had by all.  I left with Stefan and Emmett (the two smaller grandchildren) around 6 p.m. to return to Tucson.  Enrique (he is 22 years old now), Catherine, Martina and Claudia stayed the night, Enrique and Cat inside the cabin with my daughter.  The cabin was fairly small but had facilities to sleep at least 6 people!  The return trip was uneventful and we made it in one shot in a little less that two hours.  Have a blessed day and I will see you again soon,  Grandpa Virgil (the can man)
